What to Expect
As a Full Stack Software Engineer on DesignX, you'll build the engineering tools that design engineers reach for every day-intuitive React frontends backed by robust .NET services, tightly integrated with Machine Learning so load analysis, design optimization, technology selection, and engineering specifications live in one unified platform. You'll sit with the DesignX team in Palo Alto, CA and partner closely with Machine Learning engineers to ship ML-powered capabilities that help engineers iterate faster, explore better options, and raise design quality. This is a chance to own product end-to-end, set a high bar for craft, and put powerful, data-driven tools directly into the hands of the people designing Tesla's future.
What You'll Do
- Full Stack Applications - Design and develop high-performance React/TypeScript frontends and .NET backend services supporting project management-oriented operations, architecting the highest-performing technical solutions from first principles
- ML Platform Integration - Collaborate with Machine Learning engineers to integrate models and ML-driven features (e.g., predictive analytics, forecasting, anomaly detection) into a single cohesive platform-building the APIs, data flows, and UI surfaces that bring ML into the hands of users
- APIs & Data - Design and build reliable RESTful/GraphQL APIs and data models in .NET that serve both application features and ML integrations with clean, well-structured data
- Business Insight - Deeply understand business needs, how users perceive application use, and how tools and workflows should be used to provide Tesla the best value
- Provide outstanding fast-response customer support, ensuring trust and reliability in applications is consistently improving and exceeding users' expectations
- Develop and invent new ways to drive more efficient workflows within the business, constantly looking for ways to simplify and then automate
- Critique and review organization-wide applications and data tools, providing tangible constructive feedback
- Review end-to-end processes and internal team deployment workflows for improvements, and communicate impacts with quantifiable results for the business
- Identify & action additional areas of opportunity and means for knowledge sharing across software, data, and ML-oriented teams
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience, with 2+ years in full stack web development building scalable, API-integrated (REST/GraphQL) applications
- Strong TypeScript skills, including types, interfaces, generics, and advanced language features
- Expertise in React (Hooks, component patterns, Redux/Context state management, React Router, performance optimization) and modern JavaScript (ES6+, async/await, promises)
- Solid HTML/CSS foundation: semantic HTML5, Flexbox/Grid, responsive design, and CSS-in-JS or preprocessors
- Proficiency in .NET (C#) backend development - ASP.NET Core, Web API design, and Entity Framework or similar ORM
- Experience designing/consuming REST/GraphQL APIs and working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and data modeling
- Proven cross-functional collaboration with ML/data teams to integrate models and services into production applications
- Comfort consuming and orchestrating ML inference endpoints and managing structured data flows between systems
- Web performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, lazy loading) and ML lifecycle familiarity (enough to collaborate effectively with ML engineers)
