Overview

Responsible for leading and executing large, complex EPC estimates. This position oversees the estimating process from receipt of bid documents through final estimate review and proposal submission, ensuring that all estimates are accurate, comprehensive, competitive, and aligned with organizational objectives. Serving as the Lead Estimator on assigned pursuits, the Estimating Manager establishes estimating strategies, defines project scope, evaluates assumptions, identifies risks and opportunities, and ensures the successful delivery of high-quality estimate packages.

The Estimating Manager coordinates and manages estimating resources across multiple pursuits, directing the work of the estimating team members to ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required timelines. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with client requirements, internal estimating standards, review processes, and established best practices. The position collaborates closely with project management, operations, engineering, procurement, and executive leadership to develop estimate strategies, support bid reviews, and facilitate seamless turnover from project execution teams.

Location & Travel Details: This is an onsite position that can be located in one of our four office locations: Fargo, ND, Indianapolis, IN, Clinton, IN, or Phoenix, AZ

Responsibilities

    Lead and perform conceptual, budgetary, and competitive EPC estimates for large projects from receipt of bid package through final review
  • Serve as Lead Estimator on assigned pursuits, responsible for scope definition, assumptions, risk identification, and estimate deliverables
  • Coordinate and manage Estimator I, Estimator II, and Estimator III resources assigned to bids to ensure timely and accurate estimate development
  • Ensure compliance with RFP requirements, internal estimating standards, and review processes
  • Manage available resources to ensure on-time, high-quality estimate delivery
  • Organize, document, and present estimates so that labor, equipment, and material assumptions are clearly understood and transferable to execution teams
  • Participate in estimate reviews, bid strategy discussions, and turnover meetings with project teams
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to Estimator I and Estimator II staff to support skill development and readiness for advancement
  • May have direct reporting responsibility for junior estimators and support performance feedback in coordination with senior estimating leadership
  • Perform site visits and attend pre-bid meetings as needed to assess site conditions and remain current with field practices
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that supports accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Work Experience and Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Drafting & Estimating, or equivalent experience

  • Seven+ years of construction estimating and/or project management experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading bids on a regular basis

  • Experience coordinating estimating resources and working within bid schedules

  • Experience supporting contract negotiations and proposal development

  • Experience working with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles

  • Strong working knowledge of construction estimating principles, methods, and EPC delivery

  • Ability to independently lead estimates and manage scope, quantities, pricing, and assumptions

  • Understanding of EPC, Design-Build, and Joint Venture contract structures

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in deadline-driven environments

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to mentor junior staff and provide constructive feedback

  • Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and contractual documents

  • Strong problem-solving skills and professional judgment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
