Description

Leidos is seeking an experienced SAP Project Technical Lead - Materials Management (MM) to support a major SAP modernization and S/4HANA transformation program for a leading utility organization.

The SAP Project Technical Lead will provide technical leadership and project coordination for SAP MM activities, serving as a key SAP subject matter expert and business/technical liaison. This individual will help lead requirements, solution design, testing, change management, and implementation activities while coordinating across business stakeholders, technical teams, and external implementation partners.

The ideal candidate will have strong SAP MM experience combined with project leadership, technical coordination, and stakeholder management skills. This individual should be comfortable evaluating proposed solutions, asking thoughtful questions, challenging recommendations when appropriate, and providing practical alternatives. The ability to communicate effectively with senior and director-level stakeholders, coordinate multiple workstreams, manage priorities, and drive activities through completion is critical to success in this role.

Location & Travel: This position is based in Newark, NJ. The qualified candidate must be within a commutable distance and able to work onsite 3 days per week. Approximately 3-4 days of travel per month is expected to visit project sites, primarily in Edison, NJ, with occasional travel to Lawrenceville or West Orange, NJ.

Salary: This position pays a salary in the range of $130,000 to $150,000 annually.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for SAP Materials Management (MM) throughout the SAP modernization and S/4HANA implementation.
  • Lead and coordinate MM-related project activities across requirements, solution design, development, testing, change management, and implementation.
  • Serve as a key technical liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and implementation partners.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective SAP MM solutions.
  • Review proposed technical and functional solutions, evaluate alternatives, and provide recommendations aligned with business and project objectives.
  • Challenge assumptions and recommendations when appropriate, asking the right questions and clearly communicating the rationale behind proposed solutions.
  • Coordinate SIT, UAT, defect resolution, and go-live readiness activities for MM-related functionality.
  • Track project deliverables, dependencies, risks, issues, and timelines to ensure activities remain on schedule.
  • Facilitate technical and business working sessions, document decisions and action items, and ensure follow-through.
  • Coordinate dependencies between MM, Procure-to-Pay, Warehousing, Finance, and other integrated SAP processes.
  • Communicate project status, technical risks, issues, decisions, and recommendations to senior and director-level stakeholders.
  • Partner with project leadership to identify risks, resolve issues, and maintain alignment across project workstreams.
  • Drive assigned technical deliverables and project activities to completion with limited direct supervision.
  • Support SAP ECC to S/4HANA transformation and migration activities, where applicable.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during implementation, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience with SAP Materials Management (MM).
  • Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA.
  • Experience supporting SAP implementations, upgrades, modernization, or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of MM and warehousing business processes and their integration with other SAP modules.
  • Experience coordinating technical and functional teams across complex SAP projects.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and recommendations to senior and director-level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, identify issues, and drive tasks and deliverables through completion.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to evaluate different technical approaches and confidently provide recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP ECC to S/4HANA conversions or migrations.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations or rollouts.
  • Experience with warehouse management and MM-related processes.
  • Experience working on large-scale enterprise SAP transformation programs.
  • Experience coordinating system design, development, testing, change management, and implementation activities.
  • Project management, technical project leadership, or workstream leadership experience.
  • Experience working with external consulting or implementation teams.
  • Experience managing project dependencies, risks, issues, and technical deliverables.
  • Utility or other large, complex enterprise experience is a plus.
