The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods within the manufacturing facility. This role analyzes material requirements, monitors inventory levels, coordinates with sub-contractors, and supports production planning to minimize shortages, excesses, and downtime. The Materials Planner plays a critical part in optimizing supply chain performance, reducing costs, and supporting on-time delivery of customer orders. * This position will work onsite 5 days/week in our Pittsburg, KS office *
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
- Monitor and maintain material inventory levels to support production schedules and customer demand.
- Analyze material requirements and generate reports for procurement and production teams.
- Maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs), inventory records, and data in ERP/MRP systems.
- Coordinate with sub-contractors to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and resolve supply issues.
- Identify and address potential material shortages, overages, and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Logistics teams to align materials with manufacturing schedules.
- Conduct root cause analysis of material variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintaining tracking of customer furnished equipment (CFE), CFE purchase orders, and communication with project management in regard to CFE materials.
- Assist in cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Provide forecasting and demand planning support based on historical data, market trends, and sales input.
YOU WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to occasionally lift materials or parts (up to 25 lbs).
- Ability to walk/stand on production floor for extended periods.
