We are seeking an Editor, Books - Brazil & Portugal (Contractor) to join our Books team. In this role, you will take ownership of curation for storefronts across Brazil and Portugal, acting as an all-genre specialist with a deep understanding of what listeners need across every category. You'll curate and manage high-priority editorial programmes, write culturally resonant copy, and develop publisher relationships across your markets. This is a unique opportunity to help launch and shape our books experience in LATAM and beyond.

The right candidate has a solid grounding in books editorial and/or bookselling, hands-on experience with digital content, and a deep understanding of the publishing industry with a genuine passion for all things books. You'll be fluent in Portuguese and English (Spanish is a plus), with a thorough knowledge of the cultures and publishing landscapes of your markets. You'll be organised, a strong communicator, and eager to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside a variety of teams and partners.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and contribute to editorial strategy for books across Brazil.
  • Take full ownership of the Audiobooks Browse experience for your market, acting as an all-genre specialist with a comprehensive understanding of what listeners need across every category.
  • Support, curate, and manage a tight, high-priority set of editorial programmes across your market.
  • Write copy, review, and tag content for both forward-facing editorial programmes and internal communications.
  • Collaborate with and maintain publisher relationships for Portuguese-language content, in collaboration with the LATAM editorial lead and Associate Director.
  • Assess publisher-suggested titles for editorial and wider Books cross-functional activities and propose additional editorial-led promotions grounded in cultural awareness and trendspotting.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider Editorial team to align on regional editorial strategy and share cross-market insights.
  • Use research, cultural insights, and data analytics to continually enhance the editorial lens for our books platform.
  • Work and collaborate with regional cross-functional teams when feasible to highlight and champion books.

What You'll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience editing, curating, or merchandising content at a digital-first platform, a publishing house, or a major books retailer.
  • Fluency in Portuguese, with strong English communication skills and the ability to collaborate with global teams.
  • An understanding of the publishing landscapes in Brazil, and a passion for connecting listeners with great content.
  • An ability to balance commercial recommendations with diverse, representative programming.
  • A keen sense of what makes titles appropriate for different situations, and an ability to quickly identify authors, series, and titles to recommend.
  • Comfort using both quantitative and qualitative data to inform editorial decisions.
  • Experience building and implementing diverse recommendations that reflect a broad range of cultures, people, and perspectives.
  • A passion for the evolution of audio and enthusiasm for spoken word content.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
