Production Scheduler

Department: Materials / Supply Chain Reports To: Materials Manager
Location: DRiV Maryville Plant Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday, First Shift, 40-45 hours a week, with overtime as necessary

Position Summary

The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating production schedules that support customer requirements, operational efficiency, and on-time delivery performance. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, production, purchasing, materials, shipping, and plant leadership to ensure customer demand is accurately translated into executable production plans.

The Production Scheduler works closely with customers and suppliers to coordinate raw material availability, manufacturing schedules, shipment timing, and delivery commitments. Through effective planning, communication, and collaboration, this role helps ensure customer requirements are met while balancing capacity, inventory, and operational needs.

Essential Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling



  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules to support customer demand and business objectives.
  • Translate customer forecasts, orders, and demand changes into executable manufacturing schedules.
  • Issue and manage production work orders to manufacturing departments.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and proactively address production constraints or delays.
  • Coordinate production priorities with supervisors and operational leaders to maximize efficiency and on-time delivery performance.
  • Analyze production capacity and recommend schedule adjustments to optimize labor, equipment utilization, and inventory levels.


Customer & Supplier Coordination



  • Serve as a primary point of contact with customers regarding delivery schedules, production status, and order fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand changing demand requirements and adjust production plans accordingly.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing analysts to ensure raw materials and components are available to support production requirements.
  • Expedite material shipments and supplier deliveries when necessary to prevent production disruptions.
  • Communication of shortages, supply risks, and schedule impacts to appropriate stakeholders.



Inventory & Material Management



  • Monitor inventory levels, material availability, and work-in-process inventories to support uninterrupted production.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies impacting production schedules.
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within planning and materials management processes.
  • Maintain planning system data and scheduling parameters to ensure accurate production planning and reporting.



Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Partner with Production Supervisors, Purchasing Analysts, Materials personnel, Shipping, Customer Service, and Plant Leadership to achieve operational goals.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and scheduling reviews.
  • Provide schedule updates, delivery status, and demand changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with product distribution planning and customer fulfillment activities to support business needs.



Continuous Improvement & Compliance



  • Identify opportunities to improve scheduling accuracy, production flow, inventory management, and customer service performance.
  • Support plant initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and operational excellence.
  • Comply with all company environmental, health, safety, and quality policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.



Qualifications

Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience may be considered.


Experience



  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in production scheduling, supply chain planning, materials management, manufacturing operations, customer service, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with customers, production teams, and suppliers preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to interpret forecasts, production requirements, inventory levels, and scheduling constraints.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
