The Director of Physical Therapy Clinics provides strategic and operational leadership for physical therapy services across the Inova Mount Vernon Clinic and Willow Oaks Clinic to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation services across both locations.

The Inova Mount Vernon PT Clinic provides comprehensive services as well as focus on orthopedic rehabilitation, supporting patients throughout the continuum of care for musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, and post-operative recovery. The Willow Oaks PT Clinic provides specialized pelvic health physical therapy, serving patients with a range of pelvic floor and related conditions.

The Director of Inova Health's Physical Therapy Center (IPTC) Clinic plans, organizes, directs, and supervises activities of the Physical Therapy Clinic with direct responsibility for the interpretation and proper execution of physician's referrals in regard to physical therapy treatments. Manages operational finances for the clinic, including budgeting and control of salary, non-salary, and capital investment expenses. Manages professional and clerical staff, including day-to-day supervision, employee relations, and staff development. Maintains effective and responsive relationships with patients, attending medical staff, and other departments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization's goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
  • Evaluates and treats patients referred to the clinic by physicians. Evaluates, records, and reports patient's progress for review by physicians.
  • Ensures that accurate and complete records of physical therapy treatments are maintained, and that equipment is kept in safe and proper working order.
  • Actively participates in continuing education. Meets minimum continuing education requirements of insurance networks.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care to patients in varying age categories, i.e., pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatric, as assigned.
  • Responsible for developing the annual budget for the operation of the clinic. Monitors the clinic's financial performance to ensure it meets budgeted revenue/expense ratios.
  • Responsible for scheduling therapy and clinical staff hours of work. Responsible for patient appointment schedules.
  • Responds promptly to requests from other departments within the operating unit, and maintains cooperative relationship with corresponding department(s) at other operating units.
  • Interacts with MD's and other internal and external contacts as appropriate.
  • May conduct or participate in training medical and nursing personnel, students, and other workers in physical therapy techniques and services.
  • Ensures adherence to Service Excellence standards and provision of outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certification - Certification as required for specific functional areas
  • Licensure - Physical Therapist Upon Start Current Virginia Physical Therapy License; Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Experience - 3 years of related clinical experience, with direct exposure to management/administrative responsibilities
  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in physical/occupational/speech therapy, business administration, finance or a related field.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive clinical experience, with demonstrated leadership or management experience.
  • Experience leading physical therapy or rehabilitation services within a hospital, healthcare system, outpatient, or multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy operations, staffing models, workflow optimization, and performance improvement.
