Position Overview
The Scrum Master will serve as an Agile leader responsible for supporting the successful execution and delivery of one or more technical teams. This role will facilitate effective team collaboration, promote Agile and Scrum best practices, and help ensure alignment between technical execution, program objectives, and customer priorities. The Scrum Master will work closely with technical leadership, engineering teams, program leadership, and customers to support planning, execution, communication, and continuous improvement. The position requires strong Agile leadership, effective stakeholder communication, and sufficient technical understanding to effectively support engineering teams and communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
Responsibilities
Responsible for facilitating Agile and Scrum practices that support effective planning, execution, and delivery across technical teams.
- Facilitate team ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement, while supporting Program Increment (PI) Planning and other SAFe events.
- Work closely with Product Owners, technical leadership, and team members to promote backlog readiness, establish achievable sprint commitments, and maintain alignment with program objectives and customer priorities.
- Identifying and facilitating the removal of impediments, managing dependencies, and helping teams proactively identify risks that may impact delivery.
- Coordinate with other teams and program stakeholders to address cross-team dependencies and promote transparency throughout the development lifecycle.
- Use appropriate Agile metrics and team performance indicators to provide visibility into progress, identify areas for improvement, and support predictable delivery.
- serve as a key communication interface between the team, program leadership, and customer stakeholders. This includes communicating team progress, accomplishments, risks, dependencies, and upcoming priorities in a clear and concise manner.
- Maintain sufficient understanding of the team's technical work to facilitate discussions, support effective communication, and ensure stakeholders have appropriate visibility into team activities and outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment by coaching team members on Agile principles, encouraging continuous improvement, and promoting effective communication and self-organization.
- Collaborate with technical leadership while maintaining appropriate separation between Agile facilitation and technical direction, helping ensure teams remain focused on delivering high-quality solutions that support program and customer objectives.
Required Experience/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience supporting software development, systems engineering, cloud, infrastructure, or other technical environments. - Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Team Facilitator, or similar Agile leadership role, with demonstrated experience supporting Scrum teams through planning and execution.
- Experience working within a SAFe Agile environment, including Program Increment (PI) Planning, sprint execution, and collaboration across technical teams and program stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of Agile and Scrum principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), including Program Increment (PI) Planning and execution.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement.
- Experience supporting technical teams in the planning, coordination, and delivery of software, systems, cloud, infrastructure, or related engineering capabilities.
- Ability to identify and facilitate the resolution of impediments, risks, and cross-team dependencies that may impact team execution and delivery.
- Ability to understand technical discussions and concepts sufficiently facilitate team execution and effectively communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to customers and stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments, including familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Experience using Agile planning, collaboration, and tracking tools, including Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Ability to use Agile metrics and delivery data to provide visibility into team progress, predictability, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a collaborative technical environment.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or similar Agile certification.
- Experience supporting software development, cloud, DevOps/DevSecOps, infrastructure, or systems engineering teams.
- Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms and modern software delivery practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automated deployment processes.
- Experience communicating technical progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to customers, program leadership, and other stakeholders.
Special Requirements/Security Clearance
- Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status and a SECRET security clearance, with an ability to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.
