Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a GIS Project Manager to join our growing team in New England. The ideal candidate will be able to work a hybrid schedule out of one of our Massachusetts offices, our Providence, RI office, or our Wethersfield, CT office; however, other New England office locations may also be considered.

This role will be part of VHB's GIS team, supporting a wide range of clients with geographic information system (GIS) services across sectors including transportation, state departments of transportation (DOT), municipal governments, energy, institutional, real estate, and federal agencies.

The successful candidate should have hands-on leadership experience managing projects, serving as a mentor to junior GIS staff and be proficient in the Esri Software Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, Survey 123, ArcGIS Enterprise) and proficient in database management.

Duties & Responsibilities

    Provide project oversight on GIS projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with scope, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Serve as Project Manager on GIS pursuits and provide input on GIS-related or influenced projects, ensuring successful technical delivery.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, contributing to client relationship development, assisting with proposals and interviews, and helping win new GIS-related work and projects.
  • Lead the development and mentorship of GIS staff by providing technical direction and support.
  • Represent VHB at industry conferences and seminars, delivering technical presentations.
  • Provide support in configuring web applications using Esri's ArcGIS Online/Portal (ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, StoryMaps, Experience Builder, ArcGIS Dashboard, Web Maps and Hub Sites), to support project work.
  • Communicate and be able to work as an individual as well as part of a large team.
  • Proactively provide your own ideas and solutions to solve project related problems.
  • Provide time estimates, write scopes of work, and develop budget estimates for project proposals and RFPs.
  • Perform Quality Control tests on work products done by others.

Skills & Attributes

  • Extensive GIS expertise with Esri products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise).
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, task managing, and leading RFP/RFQ pursuits for GIS projects of all sizes and complexity.
  • Ability to identify GIS-related growth opportunities, support client relationships, and contribute to business development and pursuit activities.
  • Geodatabase design, development, management and maintenance.
  • Experience configuring web applications using Esri's web application frameworks and products such as Experience Builder, ArcGIS Dashboards, Field Maps, and Survey123.
  • Able to create map services and interactive web applications.
  • Experience with scripting and automation across Esri's ArcGIS Platform.
  • Able to utilize GIS applications to perform advanced spatial analysis or data conversion or manipulation. i.e., raster/surface manipulation, mosaic, modify and repurpose imagery for other software.
  • Ability to learn new skills and methods on-the-fly, troubleshoot issues, and solve technical problems.
  • Innovative spirit and a growth mindset-eager to build new client relationships and expand our visibility in the region.
  • AEC experience preferred, with familiarity in civil engineering and planning data sets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience utilizing GIS technology, including at least 4 years of project management experience.
  • BS in GIS, Geography, Planning, Survey Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree is preferred and may be substituted for 1-2 years of experience.
  • GISP certification preferred.
  • Extensive experience working across Esri's ArcGIS Platform (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise)

The full-time annual base salary range for this position is $98,000 to $123,000 if located in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut; and $82,000 to $105,000 if located in Vermont and Maine. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

We may consider candidates who will work from another VHB office location.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
