PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Operations Engineer will provide on-platform engineering support to maintain production uptime and optimize operating expense. The Operations Engineer will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of offshore production facilities by providing engineering support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of mechanical, electrical, and control systems. The engineer will primarily interface with Field Operations, Process Engineering, Production Engineering and Topside Facilities.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and assist in the operation of production, utility, and safety systems in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor system performance and implement corrective actions to maintain operational integrity.

  • Collaborate with planners and technicians to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.

  • Adhere to Process Safety Management principles and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.

  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) processes.

  • Provide engineering expertise for troubleshooting complex equipment issues.

  • Support upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities for offshore assets.

  • Be fully conversant with emergency procedures and act as technical support during incidents.

  • Perform process surveillance in oil, gas and water treatment systems

  • Ensure that export product quality meets pipeline and overboard water specifications

  • Identify process improvements that reduce expenses and increase operational efficiency

  • Understand and optimize equipment and control systems to minimize process related downtime

  • Improve production throughput through debottlenecking identification and mitigation

  • Downtime root cause analysis and tracking

  • Assist chemical team by tracking, reporting, troubleshooting and optimizing chemical programs

  • Perform well production surveillance

  • Ensure ramp-up, drawdown and flow assurance guidelines procedures are followed

  • Witness and QA/QC 3rd party meter calibration and sample collection

  • Assist subsea operations troubleshooting and integrity procedures

  • Assist with subsea well tie ins, including subsea hardware commissioning

  • Participate in facility and major project hazard reviews

  • Interface with platform operations staff on behalf of shore-based engineering disciplines

  • Review and build isolations in Control of Work.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Education: Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of oil and gas industry experience required. Process engineering experience (upstream or downstream) strongly preferred. Offshore Gulf of America experience preferred.

Professional/Technical Knowledge:

  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, PFDs and equipment data sheets

  • Familiar with oil and gas process; including gas-liquid and water-oil separation

  • Familiar with oilfield chemistry and their applications

  • Understanding of pump, compression and process controls

  • Basic knowledge of pressure relief, separator, heat exchanger, and control valve designs to evaluate capacities and identify bottlenecks

  • Basic knowledge of corrosion, scaling, emulsion and foaming mechanisms

  • Basic knowledge of project management, cost estimation and economic evaluations

  • Basic knowledge of root cause analysis techniques

Skills & Competencies:

  • Good communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Travel Requirements:

  • Required travel to an offshore facility for a 14 days on and 14 days off schedule
