The Environmental Manager is responsible for overseeing environmental compliance activities, regulated equipment management, laboratory quality systems, and environmental personnel at Sunbelt Solomon Services LLC. This position ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including TSCA, RCRA, SPCC, stormwater, air quality, and hazardous waste requirements.

The Environmental Manager provides leadership for environmental compliance programs, PCB management activities, laboratory operations, regulatory reporting, audits, inspections, employee training, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role serves as a key resource for operations, commercial teams, customers, and regulatory agencies on environmental and compliance matters.

This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Transportation & Environmental Compliance and supervises environmental personnel assigned to the facility.

Environmental Compliance & Regulatory Programs


  • Maintain compliance with TSCA, RCRA, state hazardous waste regulations, stormwater permits, SPCC plans, air permits, and other environmental requirements.
  • Manage environmental permits and ensure all required reports, inspections, monitoring activities, and regulatory submissions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Conduct internal environmental audits and compliance assessments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during regulatory inspections, agency inquiries, and compliance reviews.
  • Investigate environmental incidents, compliance concerns, and permit deviations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain environmental records, manifests, inspection logs, permits, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and evaluate impacts to company operations.

PCB Program Management


  • Oversee PCB storage, inspection, labeling, recordkeeping, transportation, and disposal activities.
  • Maintain records required to demonstrate compliance with TSCA PCB regulations.
  • Monitor non-compliant PCB material receipts and coordinate disposition activities.
  • Support customer inquiries regarding PCB regulations, disposal requirements, and compliance obligations.
  • Review manifests, Certificates of Disposal, and related PCB documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Hazardous Waste Management


  • Manage hazardous waste accumulation areas and disposal activities.
  • Ensure completion of required inspections and documentation.
  • Characterize waste streams and coordinate profiling, sampling, and disposal activities.
  • Provide oversight of waste container management, labeling, storage, and transportation requirements.
  • Coordinate waste shipments and disposal vendor activities.

Environmental Permits & Inspections


  • Maintain facility Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and oversee required inspections and corrective actions.
  • Maintain facility Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans and inspection programs.
  • Support air permit compliance activities including monitoring, recordkeeping, and annual reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling, monitoring, and laboratory services as needed.

Laboratory Quality & Analytical Operations


  • Ensure laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with approved Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and applicable accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control documentation.
  • Review analytical data and investigate discrepancies prior to report issuance.
  • Support laboratory audits, corrective actions, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and analytical issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and train personnel on laboratory procedures and quality systems.

Leadership & Employee Development


  • Supervise environmental and laboratory personnel.
  • Establish priorities, assign work, and monitor performance.
  • Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure employees understand and follow environmental procedures, safety requirements, and compliance expectations.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Operational Support


  • Provide technical guidance to operations, maintenance, transportation, and commercial teams.
  • Support inventory verification, regulated equipment tracking, and compliance-related system audits.
  • Review discrepancies involving regulated equipment and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support site projects, facility improvements, and operational initiatives requiring environmental review.
  • Assist with customer audits, due diligence requests, and environmental assessments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum five years of environmental compliance experience in an industrial, utility, manufacturing, remediation, or waste management environment.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • TSCA PCB regulations
    • RCRA hazardous waste regulations
    • Stormwater permitting
    • SPCC requirements
    • Air permitting and emissions reporting
    • Environmental inspections and audits

  • Experience developing SOPs, training programs, and compliance procedures.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • CHMM, REM, CSP, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance across multiple facilities.
  • Experience with accredited environmental or analytical laboratories.
  • Experience supporting EPA, state agency, or customer audits.
  • Familiarity with ERP, environmental compliance, and manifest management systems.
