What the day will look like

The AVP/VP of Pharmacy Analytics will lead the design and implementation of pharmacy analytics solutions. These offerings support clients in comprehending pharmacy benefit performance, pinpointing cost and utilization possibilities, reviewing pharmacy benefit manager effectiveness, and transforming complex data into clear, actionable guidance. This role will function as a senior analytics leader and subject-matter expert across pharmacy claims, PBM contracting, formulary strategy, specialty pharmacy, payment integrity, and pharmacy trend management.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Lead the pharmacy analytics strategy, roadmap, and delivery model in alignment with broader health, benefits, and client priorities.
  • Oversee analytics related to pharmacy claims, utilization, pricing, rebates, formulary management, specialty pharmacy, clinical programs, and PBM performance.
  • Translate complex pharmacy and financial analyses into executive-ready insights, recommendations, and client-facing narratives.
  • Partner with clinical, actuarial, consulting, data science, product, and technology teams to develop scalable analytic solutions and reporting capabilities.
  • Support PBM evaluations, market checks, audits, vendor performance reviews, and pharmacy strategy engagements with data-driven insights.
  • Identify cost-efficiency opportunities, trend drivers, outliers, program gaps, and member-level patterns that inform pharmacy benefit design and intervention strategies.
  • Ensure analytic methodologies are sound, repeatable, well-documented, and aligned with client objectives and industry standards.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for internal stakeholders and clients on pharmacy analytics methodology, findings, interpretation, and implications.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to analytics team members, including prioritization, quality control, and professional development.
  • Monitor pharmacy industry trends, regulatory changes, emerging therapies, specialty drug pipeline developments, and PBM market dynamics.

Education

  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare analytics, pharmacy analytics, pharmacy benefit management, consulting, health plans, or related healthcare data environments.
  • Deep understanding of pharmacy benefits, PBM operations, claims adjudication, pricing methodologies, rebate structures, utilization management, formulary design, and specialty pharmacy.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing pharmacy claims data and translating findings into strategic recommendations for clients or senior leadership.
  • Strong leadership experience managing analytics teams, cross-functional initiatives, or complex client-facing deliverables.
  • Proficiency working with large healthcare datasets and analytic tools such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and clinical concepts clearly to executive, technical, and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, timelines, stakeholder expectations, and quality standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in analytics, data science, statistics, economics, pharmacy, public health, healthcare administration, actuarial science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree such as PharmD, MPH, MBA, MS, or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience supporting employer-sponsored health benefits, PBM procurement, pharmacy audits, vendor evaluations, or payment integrity initiatives.
  • Experience integrating pharmacy claims with medical claims, eligibility, clinical, lab, vendor, or financial datasets.
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics, predictive modeling, machine learning, or AI-enabled healthcare analytics.
  • Experience presenting to senior executives, clients, consultants, clinical leaders, or vendor partners.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $160,000 - $180,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
