Full Stack Developer, Enterprise CRM

University Information Technology Services (UITS) is seeking an Application Developer to join the Trellis enterprise CRM team as the core developer for CatCloud, the University's student-facing hub. This is a permanent role that begins with re-platforming CatCloud from Salesforce Experience Cloud to Next.js and React, and continues with ongoing development of the platform, including future work extending it with AI-driven features. The role also provides periodic support to the broader Trellis Salesforce platform, including Apex development and related application work.

The ideal candidate is a full-stack developer with strong React experience who is comfortable working in dynamic environments and using AI coding tools as part of their workflow. This person should be a systems thinker able to work well within a small, collaborative team. Salesforce Apex experience is not required and can be learned on the job, along with some native Salesforce UI development using Lightning Web Components.

Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws. A comparable hourly rate range would be: $41.77 - $66.82. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined.

• Design, build, and maintain CatCloud as its core developer
  - a modern Next.js/React web front end that consumes Trellis's (Salesforce) REST APIs
  - leading the initial replatforming from Salesforce Experience Cloud and
  continuing to own, evolve, and extend the platform going forward, using
  AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery.
• Work with the business analyst to define needed
  integrations and deliver the APIs the Boomi team needs to move data in and out
  of Trellis/CatCloud
  - ensuring Boomi has the data it requires, without owning
  integration build or orchestration directly.
• Establish and implement production-readiness standards for
  CatCloud as it moves from prototype to a system serving live student data
  - including secrets management, secure data handling, and environment-specific
  deployment safeguards.
• Support the Trellis enterprise Salesforce team on special
  projects and backend development (e.g., list loads, Apex-based logic,
  controller/service-layer work, Lightning Web Components or other native
  Salesforce UI work) as priorities require, developing working Apex proficiency
  over time.
• Partner with the project's dedicated UX designer to
  translate designs and student-experience requirements into effective front-end
  implementations; contribute to the team's exploration of AI agent development
  to extend CatCloud and Trellis capabilities responsibly and with appropriate
  guardrails.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of agentic AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as a core part of the development workflow; supply the context and constraints that produce good output, and critically review what comes back.
• Ability to learn Salesforce Apex and enterprise CRM concepts sufficient to contribute to Trellis-side development work.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices; secrets management, environment separation, and safe handling of sensitive/regulated student data (e.g., FERPA-related considerations.
• Knowledge of how CatCloud, Trellis, and their integrations fit together, and to make sound judgment calls within that context.
• Ability to work well as part of a small, highly motivated team, collaborating closely with regular guidance and direction from the team lead.
• Ability to work effectively with a dedicated UX designer, a business analyst, and the Boomi integration team, without owning those functions directly.
• Flexibility and curiosity: comfortable shifting between front-end platform work, backend/Apex support, and forward-looking agentic AI development as priorities evolve.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Experience with Next.js specifically, and with migrating/replatforming an existing application to a new front-end framework.
• Experience with Salesforce development (Apex, Lightning Web Components, or platform APIs).
• Prior experience delivering APIs consumed by an iPaaS platform (Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato, etc.) - not required to have built the integration itself, but understands what a clean, integration-friendly API looks like.
• Experience building or experimenting with AI agents or agentic workflows (LLM tool use, orchestration frameworks, internal tooling that connects AI coding assistants to team systems).
• Experience in higher education or another large enterprise CRM environment.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern source control workflows (Git/GitHub).
• Experience communicating technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The Rate of Pay Field represents the University of Arizona's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The University considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal equity.

The grade range for this
position is $86,870 - $138,993.
Each unit typically sets starting pay between the minimum and midpoint
upon hire as reflected in the Rate of Pay field above.
