AsaRecreation Therapist, you will provide patient care duties as it relates to recreational therapy and adaptive sports following accreditation guidelines licensing regulations professional code of ethics and standards of practice to include: evaluation, re-evaluation, treatment plannin,g & implementation and discharge planning. You will assure compliance with all legal & accreditation standards.

Primary Duties:

  • Provideseffective and efficientevidence-basedcare.Providesindividualized patient care duties as it relates to Recreation Therapy following accreditation guidelines, professional code of ethics, and standards of practice toincludeevaluation/ re-evaluation, treatment planning, patient/caregiver education, and discharge planning.

  • Demonstrates sound clinical reasoning during patient care to maximize effective and safe outcomes. Demonstrates leadership skills in coaching/managing quality sports programming in our community programregardingsafety, budgeting,maintainingofequipment,appropriate paperwork, volunteers and serving asliaisonto nationalorganizationand partners. Activelyparticipatein fundraising and grant writing to ensure funding for sports and fitnessprograms.

  • Follows MNRH documentation policy tomaintainaccurateandtimelydocumentation to include assessment, clinical interventions, flowsheets, dischargerecommendations. Documentation reflectsthe needfor acute rehab level of care to include patient/ familyeducation, training,treatmentintensityand duration.

  • Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Maintainsaccurateschedules for assigned patients and professional activities.

  • Coordinates sports programming.Ensures necessary supplies and equipment available for patient care and for community sports programming.Istimely,punctual,and prepared.

Qualifications:

  • Graduateofan accredited college or university with abachelor'sdegree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies with a Therapeutic option/emphasis.

  • Advanced training in clinicalexpertisethrough workshop attendance.Identified area or working toward area(s) of advance practice.Presents at department/team in-services.

  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Must have or be able to obtain Recreation Therapist licensure for Washington, D.C prior to start date.

  • Valid driver's license in good standing and maintenance of a safe driving record.

  • 12 week Therapeutic Recreation Internship in a clinical setting preferably in physical rehabilitation required

  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a rehabilitation setting preferred.
