Description & Requirements Job Description
The Simulation Program Manager will provide operational and strategic leadership for the administration, design, delivery, and evaluation of the BCH Oakland Simulation Program to ensure effectiveness and impact. They will oversee program operations, including personnel, financial and physical resources, simulation technology, policies and procedures, program evaluation, and performance metrics. This includes programs conducted at all BCH Oakland sites, as well as simulation-based outreach programs. They will collaborate with the BCH Medical Director of Simulation, the Clinical Nurse Simulation Educator, and other key stakeholders, including but not limited to quality and patient safety leaders, simulation leads and educators, and other system leaders, to assess needs, develop innovative simulation-based programs, and support their implementation. Support will include activities such as calendar planning and maintenance; working with simulation leaders on programmatic expansion and quality improvement, including outreach programs; managing the budget; tracking outcome measures; overseeing equipment storage and maintenance; and resource allocation. The Program Manager should be well-versed in simulation methodology and may help facilitate front-line simulation activities. The ideal candidate is a talented professional with diverse life experiences and perspectives who has 5+ years of experience in medical simulation-prior lead or supervisory experience required. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training - 3+ years of directly relevant experience in simulation-based education and technology - 3+ years of lead/supervisor/manager experience with demonstrated strategic planning and leadership skills in training and guiding employees on educational techniques. Motivates and inspires staff to improve the health profession education services - Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment. Ability to organize assigned staff and unit operations in an efficient and effective manner. - Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with peers, learners, faculty, and other education program coordinators/managers - Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through the critical thinking process Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of department, organization, HR and university policies and processes. Current knowledge of relevant industry federal, state and local laws and regulations including national accrediting organizations and state and federal licensing and regulatory offices - Experience in quality and process improvement - Master's degree in related area - AHA PALS/ACLS Certification - LEAN Certification
