Assistant Supervisor- AnchorPoint Crisis Residence

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being, and are looking for a Assistant Supervisor in our AnchorPoint Crisis Residence Program.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Supervisor provides direct care, supervision, and support to children and adolescents residing in the agency's Children's Crisis Residence, AnchorPoint. This short-term, therapeutic program serves youth experiencing emotional or behavioral crises, offering stabilization and skill development in a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment. The Assistant Supervisor assumes leadership responsibilities in the unit as assigned by the program Supervisor. The Assistant Supervisor interfaces with the youth and the youth counselors, and carries out agency programming when on shift. The Assistant Supervisor acts in place of the Supervisor in their absence, and carries out duties such as scheduling, timesheets, as well interacting with department heads as needed to facilitate activities within the programmatic milieu.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Takes a leadership role in daily living activities.
2. Provides guidance and leadership to youth and staff while on shift.
3. Initiates program activities and follows through to conclusion.
4. Is responsible for being knowledgeable about and appropriately applying the basic philosophy and treatment approach established by the team for children.
5. Assists the Supervisor in daily activities, carrying out of goals for children, maintaining the physical environment, assisting with the children's clothing and personal needs, and planning and administrative duties.
6. Acts in the absence of the Supervisor during Team Meetings, Supervisors' Meetings and Planning Meetings.
7. Supervises and instructs children in the activities of daily living. This includes such activities as personal care, care of the living space and their personal property, meal-time activities, community and school activities, and general recreation.
8. Assists children to develop emotional regulation skills and appropriate behavioral and social skills and standards.
9. Assists children to develop skills and interests in leisure time activities.
10. Helps guide staff to enhance youth engagement and to develop positive attitudes regarding school, as well as good study habits.

Schedule: Sunday 8am-8pm, Monday/Tuesday 7am-5pm, Wednesday 7am-3pm, Thursday-Saturday OFF.

MINIMUM Qualifications:

• AAS degree.
• Minimum two years child care experience; experience beyond two years combined with a High School Degree or equivalent may be used to offset education requirements.
• Valid New York State Driver's License with good driving record as determined by the Agency.
• Must complete and pass a pre-employment physical, PPD and drug screen and an annual physical and PPD.

PREFERRED Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree
• CPR and First Aid Certificates
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Trainer
