Flexible scheduling options available (Night/Weekendfocus with cross-coverage / backup to Emergency & Critical Care as needed). Schedules are provided at least two weeks in advance. This position is available at 90%-100% FTE (36-40 hours per week).


Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists with and executes the preparation, completion, and documentation of basic technical animal care procedures, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity (25%)
  • Maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing (15%)
  • Assists with routine laboratory tests and specimen collection according to established medical orders and care plans (10%)
  • Inventories and organizes supplies (10%)
  • Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions (20%)
  • Cleans and maintains organization of animal holding spaces, work areas and equipment (10%)
  • Documents and disseminates results to the appropriate entities (10%)

Compensation:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00 per hour, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical veterinary experience (such as an assistant/handler in general practice, urgent care, shelter medicine, or specialty setting).

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds independently and comfortably perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and animal restraint.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Veterinary Assistant program or relevant coursework.

  • Experience in an emergency, urgent care, or high-volume inpatient ward setting.

  • Strong desire to learn, collaborate, and grow within a teaching hospital environment.

High School Diploma Required

Associates Degree Preferred
