Durable Equipment Coordinator

The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator facilitates and coordinates DME related functions including securing DME, completing prior authorization request, completes appropriate documentation, and communicating and coordinating with patients and families.

Duties & Responsibilities

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Liaises with patients, families, providers and internal and external parties in order to effectively and efficiently meet DME needs in a variety of clinical settings.

2. Tracks, maintains, and orders DME products.

3. Communicates with and provides education to patients and families on DME options, as well as expectations for the DME provider.

4. Communicates and follows up with patients, families and community providers.
5. Proactively works to resolve issues and to resolve barriers.
6. Ensures that all necessary documentation and authorization is obtained as it relates to payer requirements.

7. Participates in departmental committees and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION - High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE - One year of experience providing customer service in a healthcare setting.

EQUIVALENCY - An Associate or higher degree, in a related field, may substitute for the experience requirements on a year for year basis.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $20.74 to $31.11
