Mammography Technologist

Schedule/Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Rotating Saturdays with a compensatory day off during the week.

Position Overview

The Mammography Technologist performs diagnostic X-ray and mammography examinations while ensuring patient safety, proper positioning, and image quality. This role operates and maintains imaging equipment, assists radiologists with examinations, and maintains required certifications and continuing education.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment to perform X-ray and mammography examinations.
• Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and examination protocols to obtain accurate diagnostic images.
• Assist radiologists during examinations according to established procedure protocols.
• Maintain the required mammography examination volume and continuing education credits under Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) standards.
• Maintain familiarity with departmental supplies, including their locations and appropriate use.
• Assist with lifting, transferring, and positioning patients onto examination tables as needed.
• Complete all mandatory annual training.
• Assist with staff training as needed.
• Follow all department and facility safety protocols, including those applicable to specialized imaging equipment.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of current experience performing mammography and diagnostic X-ray examinations.
• Current ARRT certifications in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M).
• Current New Jersey state license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of imaging protocols, anatomy, physiology, and patient positioning.
• Ability to assist with patient lifting, transfers, and positioning.
• Ability to meet ongoing MQSA examination volume and continuing education requirements.

Additional Job Details

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Rotating Saturday coverage with a compensatory day off during the week.
• Duties may require working in or near areas containing specialized imaging equipment.
