Requisition ID req38122 Working Title Supv,Teaching Lab - Organic Chemistry Position Grade 12 Position Summary The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology seeks an efficient, knowledgeable professional to act as the Supervisor of the Organic Chemistry Teaching Laboratories. The ideal candidate will have knowledge regarding the scientific processes and safety considerations related to working in Organic Chemistry Lab, and will be able to perform with little supervision, multi-task, and be reliable. The Supervisor of Teaching Labs is a position that will primarily work four 10 hr shifts Monday-Thursday. This may be changed based on staffing and when classes are not in session. This position will be responsible for the following: Lab prep/technician for up to 23 sections of Organic Chemistry Lab Supervise and train up to 15 lab TAs per semester Act as course coordinator Ensure safety procedures are being followed in classrooms Equipment and supply management Potential to supervise other teaching lab technician as necessitated by course enrollment See UNM Job description for further responsibilities This position will start in January 2027 and will be trained fully before working independently. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Chemistry or related field Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of laboratory facilities and/or equipment. Knowledge of chemical, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental health standards. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
