Lead Financial Analyst, Richardson, TX

Halff has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Financial Analyst to join our Finance team in Richardson, TX. This role is a key member of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function, providing strategic financial insight, planning support, and decision-making guidance across the organization.

The Lead Financial Analyst will play a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, reporting, profitability analysis, and process improvement initiatives. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with leaders across the business to drive financial performance and support informed decision-making.

What you will do:



  • Communicate financial and operational insights through clear analysis, effective storytelling, dashboards, and executive-level presentations.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities while maintaining and enhancing the firm's budgeting and planning tools.
  • Perform month-end, quarterly, and annual financial analysis, including variance analysis and performance reporting against budgets and forecasts.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance financial models to evaluate business scenarios, support strategic initiatives, and develop long-term forecasts.
  • Analyze costs, trends, and profitability drivers while identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost optimization.
  • Support revenue recognition processes and evaluate the reasonableness of key financial assumptions and reporting components.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, performance metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop and automate reports, dashboards, and analytical tools using Excel, Power BI, SQL, and related technologies.
  • Partner with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of proposed projects, investments, and business initiatives, providing guidance to operational and non-finance teams.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business unit leaders, and operational teams to understand financial drivers and support business performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the scalability, accuracy, and efficiency of financial reporting and analysis processes.
  • Support additional FP&A initiatives including stock analysis, annual surveys, and special projects.


What you will need:



  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, advanced formulas, and VBA/macros.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to support decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify meaningful trends.
  • Ability to evaluate financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present financial information and recommendations to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience collaborating across departments and building effective partnerships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with databases, data structures, and querying information.
  • Innovative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement, automation, and process optimization.
  • Experience with Deltek, UKG, Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence and ERP platforms is a plus.


Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, corporate finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting professional services organizations is preferred.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including financial analysis and integration support, is a plus.
  • CPA designation is a plus but not required.
