Intake Coordinator Opportunity - Part Time, Weekends

We are hiring for a Part Time, Benefit Eligible, Intake Coordinator to work 2pm to 10:30pm for 24 hours per week. This position required working every other weekend.

Pembroke Hospital is a 120-bed acute care, inpatient behavioral health facility located south of Boston, in Pembroke, MA. Situated on 26 acres, we offer inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment to teens, adults and older adults, and our services are designed to assess, stabilize, and treat patients by addressing their primary symptoms and problems. The Intake Coordinator isresponsible for working collaboratively in the admissions department responding to inpatient referral requests from clinicians, patients, family members, managed care company staff, and others. Intake Coordinators must answer calls entering the queue (or coming in on direct extensions) and process demographic, clinical and insurance information in a manner consistent with service excellence and that ensures efficient and effective call processing, leading to a patient admission to Pembroke Hospitals program or providing appropriate information to the caller.

Responsibilities

• Completes the intake call sheet on all referrals including for inpatient as appropriate for the position.
• Gathers all necessary demographic, clinical and financial information on call sheet.
• Ensures information is accurate and complete as call sheet is transmitted to hospital clinical and business office staff.
• Requests evaluation from ESP/ED/Referrer as appropriate.
• Assists Intake Coordinators when requested in interpretation of lab values, and diagnostic testing within Pembroke guidelines in order to facilitate appropriate referrals to facilities.
• Reviews for first call acceptance of appropriate patients based on Pembroke protocols.
• In a timely manner, notifies the units of pending admissions. Sends completed call sheets and insurance verification/authorization to Hospital Unit, Utilization Review and Business office.
• Maintains accurate, up-to-date bed availability including update hospital staff of pending admissions or cancellations. Update external bedboard on regular basis.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred
• 1+ years of prior work experience within an Inpatient Behavioral Health facility and/or prior admissions experience preferred
• Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention with psychiatric patients
