Job Summary

The Leinwand Laboratory is seeking qualified candidates for a temporary, part-time Research Assistant position. The candidate will be expected to work 5-10 hours per week.

The Leinwand Lab's current research focus is on unraveling mechanisms of genetic heart and skeletal muscle diseases and maladaptive and adaptive cardiac hypertrophy. Please find more information here: https://www.colorado.edu/lab/leinwand/

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing recombinant DNA experiments and molecular biology techniques.
  • Maintaining mammalian and primary cell cultures.
  • Conducting cell transfections and nucleofection procedures.
  • Acquiring and analyzing microscopy images.
  • Organizing, analyzing, and presenting experimental data.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in a molecular biology research laboratory.

What You Will Need

  • Demonstrated experience with recombinant DNA construct design and assembly using techniques such as PCR, inverse PCR, and Gibson Assembly.
  • Proficiency in agarose gel electrophoresis.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection, primary cell maintenance, and nucleofection.
  • Experience with live-cell imaging using confocal microscopy.
  • Proficiency in image processing and analysis using Image.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for data management and organization.
  • Experience using GraphPad Prism for data visualization and statistical analysis.
