$57,969.60 - $96,616.00 The Assistant Director organizes, executes and staffs small to midsize community-based fundraising events for a single campaign or single channel. Additionally, the Assistant Director will support broader cultivation and stewardship efforts, projects, initiatives and campaigns as needed. Provides a world-class experience that leaves donors feeling valued, informed and engaged.

What You'll Bring:

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or other related field (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
4 years of technical development experience including with a proven record in lower level major gifts, high end annual gifts or special event execution, or managing a component of the marketing program. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Strong written and verbal communication skills (including phone skills such as warm tone, good speaking cadence, clear and articulate speech)
Effective interpersonal skills that demonstrate poise, tact, patience, and courtesy
Must demonstrate initiative, energy, confidence, strong donor service attitude, and willingness to contribute to a teamwork-driven environment
High levels of professionalism, compassion, creativity and integrity
Proven experience in successfully building and cultivating donor relationships
A willingness to work collaboratively to produce fundraising strategies and tactics
Proven sense for developing tactics to meet goals and objectives
Ability to manage time and task completion effectively
Strong familiarity with The Raiser's Edge software and/or other donor-related platforms

Functional Accountabilities
Plan, Coordinate and Organize Events

  • Coordinates and organizes small to midsize community-based fundraising events for a single campaign or single channel.
  • Develops and maintains an extensive network of contacts, both internal and external, to facilitate event coordination.
  • Serves as the main point of contact from planning through execution.
  • Develops complete project timeline.
  • Collaborates with Events Committees and Major Gift Officers to develop concepts and designs.
  • Coordinates mailings of promotional materials and invitations and directs logistical planning.
  • Determines staffing needs for special events and assigns duties to ensure success.
  • Assists with the development budgets and tracks spending.
  • Negotiates and contracts with vendors for a variety of goods and services related to special event planning.
  • With oversight from supervisor, may negotiate financial terms and authorize expenditures.
  • Assists with other Foundation events such as Race for Every Child and the Employee Giving Campaign, as needed.

Execute Events

  • Serves as event liaison between the client and vendors, donors, etc. for community-based events providing information to interested groups as requested.
  • Handles third party management of delivery vehicles, photographers, florist, catering, and transportation services to ensure seamless presentation and positive brand experience.
  • Generates all correspondence to clients, including proposal letters, and thank-you letters.
  • Supports coordination of social media platform marketing to include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and provides website content updates.
  • Builds and delivers digital assets on time.
  • Maintains accurate records on event activities, progress, status, and prepares post event summary.
  • Attends event to oversee activities and ensure details are handled as planned.
  • Addresses any issue that may arise and remains on site after the event is over to ensure proper clean up.
  • Works with and give guidance to volunteers and staff involved in event planning and execution.
  • Monitors delivery of goods and services to ensure contract terms are satisfied.
  • Performs other pre- and post-event responsibilities as assigned or requested by clients.
  • Be open to constructive feedback.

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual's combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications. Children's National is committed to providing a fair and competitive total rewards package to each of our employees. This base salary range does not include our comprehensive benefits package or any additional compensation for which this position may be eligible.
