Overview

As a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer/Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll help with expanding the water/wastewater services practice serving clients in the manufacturing, mining, power, solid waste, and municipal markets. This position will manage projects involving water and wastewater systems specifically dealing with physical/chemical and biological treatment plants. You'll be responsible for managing and directing active projects with current clients, directing and mentoring junior staff to educate them on design parameters, plant layout, project integration and regulatory criteria. You will also have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and participate at networking and client development.

Key Responsibilities:

    Perform engineering design tasks on complex water/wastewater projects;
  • Interpreting treatability studies and developing preliminary and final project engineering designs;
  • Preparing Process & Instrumentation Diagrams;
  • Authoring Engineering Design Reports and Permit Applications
  • Developing efficient plant layout and directing CADD, civil, architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural professionals to provide equipment selection and prepare construction plans and project specifications;
  • Experienced in permitting and project approval requirements;
  • Mechanical, electrical, building systems, control, and instrumentation knowledge;
  • Preparing operations and training manuals;
  • Construction/Commissioning phase services and routine facility operations;
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews on projects;
  • Pursue client management and business development opportunities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Environmental or Civil Engineering;
  • Professional Engineer licensed in Arizona or able to obtain an AZ license;
  • 8+ years of water resources engineering experience;
  • Experience with an engineering firm, water/wastewater treatment equipment, and treatment plant operation;
  • Experience mentoring and managing staff.

Preferred Capabilities:

  • Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills with a thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate via phone, email, technical writing, and in-person;
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
