Position Summary:
To
provide a safe living, learning environment to students (minors) enrolled in
the Upward Bound Summer Program.

Essential Functions:
- Supervise a primarily
undergraduate residence hall staff.
- Manage operational residence hall
functions -distribution and
collection of keys, damage assessment, maintenance requests, conduct room
checks, provide budget needs, etc.
- Provide services directly to
students such as personal and discipline counseling and developmental,
cultural and educational programming, provide daily feedback via email.
- Cultivate, coordinate, and assist
in the development of student leadership and responsibility through
programming and direct involvement with students.
- Sponsor or assist in the
sponsorship of programs in residence halls.
- Act as a liaison between full-time
professional staff and students, communicating student issues, concerns and
resolutions.
- Identify, develop and implement
staff training when necessary.
- Evaluate the performance of
resident life assistants.
- Develop an on-call schedule and
meeting schedule to be posted.
- Document and report all incidents
within a reasonable amount of time.
- Assist RAs with creating a
community that is conducive to students' academic and
personal success.
- Available to work/on call between
5pm and 9am daily. In some cases it may require additional time.
- Respond to emergency and other
situations during and after normal business hours.
- Foster a safe learning and living
environment for high school students.
- Required to attend training and
meetings.
- Perform other duties as requested
by the Director.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal
communication skills.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- Previous experience in a
residential housing facility, preferable at a college/university.
- Leadership
and supervisory abilities.
- Required to live in the residence hall for the
duration of the summer program.
- Must be able to perform in an on-call
environment.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and
responsibilities.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement.
- Complete
a background clearance check, ability to plan, organize, develop and conduct a
comprehensive instructional tutoring program for students enrolled in the
Upward Bound Program.
- Experience working with minority and disadvantaged
students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
- At
the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be
exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the
university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically
preparing the candidate for success in the position.
