Director, Cardiac Diagnostics (RN)

Job Summary:
RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated and dynamic Director, Cardiac Diagnostics to lead and manage all departmental operations, including invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures and cardiology medical imaging services, in alignment with the organization s mission, vision, and strategic goals. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective systems that support departmental operations, with a keen focus on industry trends, resource optimization, and evolving customer needs. This role fosters and maintains effective working relationships with all key stakeholders, including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors. The Director proactively identifies operational challenges and drives continuous performance improvement initiatives, enhancing both operational efficiency and clinical standards of care. This position collaborates closely with physicians, staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services, with ongoing monitoring and advancement of quality metrics. Continuous improvement is achieved through strategic analysis of customer satisfaction data, active employee engagement, and a steadfast commitment to service excellence.

Reports To:

  • The Director, Cardiac Diagnostics reports to the Assistant Vice President of Cardiovascular Services

Qualifications

  • BSN required
  • Masters degree in a related field required (e.g. Healthcare Administration)
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant clinical experience with cardiac population required
  • Minimum two (2) years in cardiovascular leadership required

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ Nursing Licensure required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 8:00AM 4:00PM EST
  • Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the planning, direction, and management of departmental operations and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality services on a 24-hour basis.
  • Oversees the operations of Cardiac Imaging Services, Diagnostic Cardiology, Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Services, Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory Services, Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Services, and associated clerical and business support teams.
  • Provides strategic guidance and operational oversight to managers, coordinators, team leaders, clinical staff, technologists, clerical personnel, and business support staff across designated areas.
  • Develops departmental budgets and implements appropriate cost controls; assists in the development, interpretation, and application of hospital policies to promote financial stewardship and periodically analyzes procedural revenue margins to ensure positive financial performance.
  • Prepares, implements, and maintains written policies and procedures governing all phases of departmental operations; periodically updates the Department Policy and Procedure Manual to ensure continued relevance and compliance.
  • Holds overall accountability, through managers and supervisors, for the effective and efficient operation of all assigned departments.
  • Monitors the activities of managers and supervisors to ensure compliance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory guidelines and policies.
  • Promotes open and effective communication between management and staff to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing levels to support continuous operational coverage.
  • Directs all departmental quality assurance functions, including clinical management, patient satisfaction and safety initiatives, and the efficient utilization of hospital services.
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors annual goals and objectives aligned with the hospital s mission and strategic priorities; ensures all reporting is thorough, accurate, and submitted within established deadlines.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Vice President of the service line to prepare strategic plans for the cardiac program; oversees the implementation of these plans and reviews and updates them annually as necessary.
