Job Overview: Processes, performs and results medical diagnostic testing on body fluids by automated and manual methods in a timely manner under the supervision of the senior technologists,

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Associate degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution; or high school graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist,
  • MLT certification from ASCP within 8 months of employment or equivalent,

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Day Shift

Essential Functions:

  • Produces medical diagnostic test results in an efficient and cost effective manner for stat and routine specimens,
  • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs instruments and lab equipment if possible,
  • Maintains all necessary QC, QA and repair records required by accreditation agencies,
  • Verifies orders from scripts and orders procedures in HIS and LIS,
  • Assists in clerical duties as needed,
  • Assists in the training of new employees and students,
  • Segregates laboratory wastes according to established policies,
  • Works on special projects as requested by Director,
  • Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to assess data reflective of each patient's status and provide acre appropriate to the age of the patient served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric,
