Assembles, disassembles, and tests both new OEM and Aftermarket units. Additionally, assists in configuration control, assures compliance with new OEM assembly instructions, overhaul manuals, military technical orders, and blueprints and/or process requirements with minimum supervision. Works on products that contain mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic systems. The Mechanic assures compliance with Parker HSD test specifications, customer test requirements and requests changes through Quality Assurance and Engineering Sections. Sets-up and operates all types of units/part families.

  • Prepares for assembly or disassembly of OEM and Aftermarket units, or complex subassemblies by unwrapping and inspecting components for cleanliness and/or damage.
  • Performs Moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Responsible for preparation of paperwork for identification and traceability of components and accurate completion of traveler documentation.
  • Assembles, tests, disassembles, cleans, repairs and overhauls production and Aftermarket components, complex subassemblies of units in conformance with established process sheets, specifications, or blueprints in the absence of process sheets. Troubleshoots and repairs defective units, pinpointing trouble spots.
  • Cleans, disassembles, and assembles items as required by Repair Order and in accordance with technical orders, manuals, prints and/or processes. Works from test specifications, blueprints, or special directives from
  • Engineering/support functions. Makes complete set-ups using test specifications or blueprints as a guide.
  • Must have the ability to work with, repair, and build wiring harnesses with solderless and solder type connections. Able to solder to customer and/or industry standards.
  • Able to interpret and apply wire/electrical schematics.
  • Tests units or valves to the applicable specifications. Brings to the attention of the supervisor any questionable characteristics that are not covered by the specification. Identifies malfunctions disclosed by test data and reworks as instructed.
  • Originates neat and legible paperwork and maintains other records that are required for performance of the job. Observes all safety rules and maintains a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area. Ensure all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedules. Takes proper care of all tools, gages and equipment.
  • Maintains area status boards and communication charts.
  • Must be capable of and must instruct/train other employees within the areas of primary function.
  • Coordinates carry-over jobs with next shift as required.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities/efforts with the classification/department. Participates in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • Shall be capable and shall be willing to be certified and qualified in multiple product families, within 45 days of reaching the top of the wage progression.
