RN Infusion Oncology Outpatient

General Summary of Position
Independently assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of patients who are ordered infusion treatments. In collaboration with the patient and family, provides theory-based professional nursing care and coordinates care delivery with the physician and other members of the healthcare team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Based on assessment of physical, emotional, bio-physical and spiritual needs, provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Analyzes the patients' lab work, medications, and activities and confers with physicians on any changes.
  • Communicates patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format. Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patient's medical record. Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care.
  • Evaluates the patient's response to treatment and progress toward identified goals and revises plan of care as appropriate. Monitors medical condition, intervenes using critical thinking, and reports patient changes
  • Initiates and monitors discharge planning activities in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Takes the lead in facilitating timely discharge.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families. Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.
  • Operates Infusion unit equipment, instruments, and supplies as well as standard office equipment including computers for records and reports.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required and
    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

    Experience

    • 1-2 years 2 years RN experience. required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia as required based on work location(s) Upon Hire required and
    • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
    • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. and
    • Certification in Infusion Nursing Upon Hire preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Demonstrated high level of clinical competence.
    • Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Basic computer skills.

    This position has a hiring range of $87,318 - $149,094
