Position Profile
As a Technician on our space production team, you will assist in the assembly, calibration, and testing of solenoid valves used on rockets. Our valves play a key role in mission critical functions such as first-stage attitude control thrust generation, pneumatic stage separation, fuel pressurization, and engine ignition.
At our state-of-the-art heated and air-conditioned manufacturing facility in Montville, NJ, you'll work with our cross-functional production and engineering team to achieve quality and on-time delivery goals. By completing our Space Technician Training Program, you'll be well positioned to succeed in your new role and get on a defined path for continued growth in the operations organization.
Responsibilities
Your overall responsibility will be to ensure that the products you build perform their intended functions reliably. You must be able to complete work as directed, in compliance with internal processes. Specific responsibilities include:



  • Product Assembly

    • Set up and operate assembly tools (e.g., standard hand tools, micrometers, calipers)
    • Assemble products per written procedures and/or schematics
    • Perform visual inspections


  • Product Test

    • Set up and operate test equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges and transducers, flow meters)
    • Operate high pressure nitrogen and helium test equipment
    • Conduct functional testing of valve products and record results
    • Troubleshoot and rework products


  • Issue Resolution

    • Manage or escalate issues impacting assembly and test, communicating with other technicians and team lead as necessary
    • Identify and document non-conformances
    • Participate in corrective action resolution


  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance

    • Maintain all hand tools in clean working condition
    • Notify supervisor of any equipment that requires repair
    • Assist with testing equipment maintenance and/or repair




Minimum Qualifications


  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow procedures
  • Computer literate, with basic PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • 1+ years aerospace/mechanical/automotive experience is beneficial but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical/trade school preferred
  • Compensation based on experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen



Work Environment:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise (air hose, etc.), and vibration
  • This position requires handling of abrasive chemicals
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 10 hours, Monday through Thursday. Overtime and weekend possible if job duties demand.
  • Some travel may be required for this position (5-10%)



Physical Requirements:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to repetitively use/reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


  • The employee is regularly required to stand at length, sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • The employee may be required to lift, stack, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 45 pounds


Attractive Work Schedule: 4-Day Work Week - Monday-Thursday (6:00AM-4:30PM), OT available
This position is at our Montville, NJ corporate offices location.
