GENERAL PURPOSE

The Senior Corporate Attorney will handle a wide range of legal matters for a global company. Based at Seaboard headquarters in the Kansas City area, this role will have broad commercial and corporate law responsibilities and provide legal support across the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Facilitate commercial and corporate transactions around the globe, including drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts to meet both operational and strategic objectives.
  • Manage corporate governance activities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist with compliance program development and key policies.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to all parts of the business.
  • Partner with other key functional areas such as tax, treasury, HR/benefits and IT.
  • Work collaboratively and responsively with a range of colleagues across the organization to facilitate a coordinated team approach.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel, as needed, to ensure timely and cost-effective legal services.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Law degree and admission to the Kansas bar (or eligible for admission thereunder).
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • International law experience a plus.



OTHER QUALIFICATIONS



  • Strong business acumen and able to converse about both business and legal objectives in a collaborative manner with all levels of leadership.
  • Good judgment, high level of professional integrity, positive attitude and ability to work with and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Foreign language skills (French and/or Spanish) a plus.



WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed in a professional office environment and involves frequent contact with others as part of Seaboard's collaborative culture. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and with sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks. Regular use of standard office equipment, such as computers and phones, is required. This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended sitting and standing. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The position requires specific vision abilities, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
