About the Program The Music Industry degree program at the Drexel University Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is a four-year undergraduate program that focuses on the business, management, and technology of the music industry. This is an exciting time in the music industry. Everything about how music is recorded, produced, promoted, delivered and monetized is changing, seemingly on a weekly basis. These rapid changes demand that industry professionals possess a solid understanding of how the music industry fits into the larger entertainment industry. Success in the music industry also requires management and business skills, including an understanding of contracts and the legal issues regarding intellectual property, technological acumen, and the ability to innovate, integrate and adapt in an ever-evolving global music business. The Music Industry program awards a Bachelor of Science degree. Job Summary RAMP Applicantsshould demonstrate a knowledge of the global creative and entertainment industries with a specialty in creativity, music production, audio engineering and songwriting.Areas of teachingmayincludetopicssuch as Digital Audio Workstations - Logic, Ableton, and/or ProTools, Music Production, Survey of Music Production,Songwriting, Introduction to Sound Recording,and Synthesis and Sampling.Music Business Applicants should demonstrate a knowledge of the global creative and entertainment industries with a specialty in creativity, marketing and promotion or data analysis. Areas of teaching may include music business topics such as A&R, Marketing, Artist Branding, Copyrights, Music Publishing, Record Label Operations, Entertainment Law, and the Study of Popular Music Culture. Candidates are not expected to have knowledge inall ofthe above categories but should have extensive experience in their field. Anideal candidate will be prepared toteach existing courses in the music industry curriculum,suggest new courses in their area of expertise,and bring industry experience to bear on the courses they teach. The adjunct faculty member will employ a variety of strategies to foster student artistic development, learning and discussions, as well as encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper course-related records, and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback as to the progress toward meeting the objectives of the course. Each adjunct faculty member is responsible for effectively teaching students in the assigned classroom or remote settings. Each adjunct faculty member is responsible for effectively implementing the mission of the Department of Arts Entertainment Enterprise. Responsibilities may include teaching days and evenings.
