SUMMARY:

The Senior CAD Designer generates 3D models and assemblies for moderate to complex product designs with only basic engineering direction, while considering the needs of other business areas such as manufacturing, material technology, supply chain, safety, and environmental impacts. The Senior CAD Design leverages all CAD & CAE technologies and techniques to turn ideas into solutions.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Assist in developing product design solutions by providing input, ideas, and options, from conception through build and manufacture.

*Complete assignments of all complexities, using independent judgement, converting the engineers' preliminary product design ideas into working 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawing.

*Communicate effectively and collaborate with engineers throughout the design process. Take appropriate action to resolve details not completely defined.

*Perform tolerance stack ups to ensure proper fit in assemblies.

*Work with engineers and suppliers to develop and evaluate materials, parts, products, and processes while offering insights on their improvement.

*Manage CAD data file structures, revisions and versions using a PDM system.

*Maintain standards by reviewing 2D engineering drawings, 3D models and supporting documentation.

*Utilize CAD Finite Element Analysis tools (FEA) for design stress capabilities and CAD Kinematics for design motion analysis to provide recommendations for design changes.

*Develop physical prototype parts from CAD geometry.

*Identify and schedule deliverables, milestones and required tasks required for projects and take corrective action to achieve timelines.



QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:



MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

*2-year associates degree in engineering or technology with 5+ years' experience preferred.

*Proficient 3D solid modeling CAD skills (Autodesk Inventor preferred) with design fundamentals.

*Working knowledge of basic design analysis tools and working knowledge of material characteristics and tooling concepts.

*Proven capabilities to troubleshoot problems with other technical employees, suppliers, and outside experts.

*Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.

*Must be able to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

*Understanding and knowledge to design components using the following manufacturing processes: plastic injection molding, profile extrusion, die casting, machining, and stamping.

*Experience in an engineering or research environment

*Posses a Society of Manufacturing Engineering Certificate

*Demonstrates effective presentation skills

Profit Sharing

During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An eligible employee hired during a quarter will receive a prorated payment based on the number of days employed during the quarter. Those eligible include fully-vaccinated regular full-time and part-time employees (at least 20 hours per week) who are not subject to a collective bargaining agreement. These and other terms and conditions of Andersen's 2022 Profit Sharing Plan, including the definition of full vaccination against COVID-19, are subject to change or termination without notice.
