Electronic Actuator Technician



  • Assist in the testing, troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of electric actuators in the shop or at customer facilities.
  • Determine repair requirements for electrical and mechanical components by use of technical drawings and various types of measuring equipment.
  • Overhaul and repair of various types of electric actuators from brands such as Limitorque, Bettis, EIM, Auma and Rotork.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
  • Will need to know or learn how electric actuators interface with the valves; multi-turn vs quarter-turn; and valve types as it relates to actuator settings: close on position vs close on torque.
  • Ability to establish the skill level of a subject matter expert on all types of electrical actuators.
  • Set up and take down of required repair equipment on site and in the shop.
  • Perform service requests as assigned with limited supervision competently.
  • Communicate and provide feedback to the actuation supervisor, follow direction and guidelines.
  • Advise plant personnel on correct maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Provide both the company and the client an accurate record of work performed, and actions taken, with conclusions and recommendations as required.
  • Check equipment after installation and prior to startup of actuators and associated equipment within the allotted time and in a professional manner, assuring that all customers' problems are handled with a minimum delay.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment in the field. The equipment will primarily consist of Electric Actuators but may also include products of other manufacturers.
  • Drive vehicle to and from job sites in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and organized vehicle.
  • Follow all safety guidelines set forth from the company both FCX and customer.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties. Work will require but limited to, lifting, climbing, forklift certification, safety training, site-specific training and periodic/random drug/alcohol screening. Must be customer oriented willing to work overtime as required. Understanding this may involve evening and weekend call in, often times with very little notice. Out of town travel may be required. Late evenings or weekend work is required as scheduled to support plant turnarounds, major projects, or when technician is on call.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license
  • One year of experience working in direct contact with customers on service-related activities
