Staff Frontend Software Engineer

This position is 100% remote within the United States. Unfortunately, Henry Schein One is unable to hire individuals residing in Alaska, North Dakota, Hawaii, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, or other US Territories at this time. This role will only consider W2 candidates and not C2C candidates.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for working on a cross functional scrum team to breakdown epics and user stories and deliver high quality and valuable software to customers. Help the team to grow in experience and knowledge by mentoring junior members of the team to improve in their abilities in the art of engineering software. Assist in making strategic decisions about the implementation and architecture of software by following the guidance of the Product Architect.

What you will do



  • Develop software that meets/exceeds the expectations of users
  • Drive continuous delivery and improve team DORA metrics
  • Work with other Software Engineers to develop, test and measure the quality of software before automatically deploying using CI/CD best practices
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, leading discussions and making decisions that meet business needs
  • Communicate effectively with executive leadership and architects on industry best practices and quality strategic plans
  • Evaluate and recommend software design patterns, frameworks and solutions that allow for a continuous integration and a continuous delivery of code.
  • Work with SRE engineers to incorporate quality delivery practices in build and deployment pipelines to address infrastructure as required.
  • Establish a high level of code quality practices, participating in code reviews
  • Attend all meetings necessary for the seamless delivery of the product as part of the SDLC
  • Capable of developing and communicating cross team architectural solutions
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement on company wide applications
  • Provide oversight over multiple domains
  • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures
  • Communicate architectural standards and mentor other developers in their use
  • Provide leadership to engineering guilds
  • Accomplish engineering missions by delivering results as needed
  • Investigate problem areas, defining and facilitating solutions


Qualifications

Must haves:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent working experience
  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • Expertise and in-depth knowledge of React, JavaScript and Next.js
  • Knowledge of Microservices, Event Sourced Architecture, API Gateway, Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing, Kubernetes, Docker, Java, Spring, Node.js, Grails, Python, Bash, SQL, NoSQL, Graph DB's, Kafka, Backbone, Vue.js, Authentication/Authorization (JWT)
  • Excellent ability to derive and design technical specifications and implement code from product and technical requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Search, In-Memory, Graph, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of application design patterns
  • Ability to remain current on new technology within the software industry
  • Excellent ability to problem solve and diagnose in a technical space
  • Domain driven design and ownership
  • Understands and defines cross-team interdependent roadmaps
  • Effectively estimate engineering work within 6-to 12-month timelines with varying degrees of accuracy


The posted range for this position is $96,000 - $168,000 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a 12.5% bonus not reflected in the posted range.
