Position: Community Engagement Recruitment Specialist, Clinical Research Network

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Hybrid

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing, and day-to-day management of, recruitment related strategies and responsibilities for the Clinical Research (CR) Network, under the direction of the CR Network Director and affiliated Principal Investigators. As this role develops, the Community Engagement Recruitment Specialist will initially serve as a liaison between the COVID inpatient admissions, staff involved in the ACTIV Network, clinical operations and hospital leadership, the community coalitions, communications, and various community stakeholders to integrate, translate, and collaborate with community-level public health regarding clinical research opportunities at BMC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Engagement and Recruitment Specialist will play a key role in developing a Community Based Participatory Recruitment program for the CR Network to ensure inclusion of community members in research studies by partnering with the community to understand needs assessments and educational design, with the goal of breaking down barriers to entry in clinical research protocols:


  • Co-designs with CR Network Director and community to identify outreach strategy. Creates comprehensive CR Network protocol recruitment strategies.

  • Strategizes with Boston Health Equity Research Network (BHERN) and CTSI. Community Engagement Core on CR Network enrollment opportunities.

  • Works with coalitions and community organizations to identify data metrics and facilitate development of data collection and reporting protocols to offer opportunity to enroll.

  • Develops/manages enrollment metric models on successful community outreach to track progress. Reports ACTIV research, and other protocol, enrollment metrics to Director and PIs and identifies areas of improvement if metrics are not being met.



  • Works on data quality improvement initiatives and runs eligible participant pre-screening reports for CR Network protocols through TriNetX.

  • Creates IRB approved Epic and data warehouse reports on eligible patients for CR Network protocols.

  • Advocates for collection, analysis, and reporting of data to identify and address health disparities and racial inequities.

  • Collaborates with ACTIV Network Manager, and others when applicable, to successfully enroll participants in applicable protocols.



  • Collaborates with Clinic Operations for space and scheduling needs.

  • Receives feedback and improves process from GCRU regarding inpatient and ambulatory operations.

  • Develops demographic reporting metrics to ensure goals of equitable opportunity for a diverse participation population are being met.

  • Collaborates with BU and BMC Social Media, Communications, and Website design around CR Network trials and works with applicable Program Manager to obtain IRB approval on applicable documentation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:


  • A Master's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field with a minimum of two additional years of work experience is preferred.

  • Individuals with a bachelor's degree and substantial work experience (4+ years) may considered.


EXPERIENCE:


  • Preferred, minimum of two years of experience working in research, intervention planning and monitoring, and/or data management projects required.

  • This is not a supervisory role; no management experience required.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Ability to communicate data and findings to different stakeholder groups and research staff in a way that is practical and promotes equal access to information.

  • Experience working with diverse populations; awareness of the impact of racial and health inequities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including budgeting, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting.

  • Experience in qualitative and/or data analysis and manuscript preparation is preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Word, Power Point, Excel. Overall Epic reporting, understanding, and navigation skills. Exposure to Data Warehouse reporting and understanding or capabilities


  • Must be a proactive problem solver with superb planning, program coordination, and leadership skills.
