HawkEye 360 is seeking a DataOps lead to join the System Engineering & Operations team.

Location: This position is hybrid in our Herndon, VA, with the option to work from home 2-3 days per week.

As the DataOps Lead, your main responsibilities will be:

• Investigate customer reported issues with collection and/or data product quality.
• Help refine performance metrics for data quality, reliability and data ops and partner with responsible directors to measure and improve on the metrics
• Design, develop, and implement software programs and tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and automatically alert when system quality decreases, enabling proactive management and quick resolution of issues.
• Work closely with engineering teams to perform root cause analysis, fix, test, and quantify the impact of the solution to issues/bugs.
• Organize and manage simultaneous testing efforts on-orbit to ensure exceptional data quality and reliability for our customers as we bring new capabilities and clusters online.
• Guide and mentor junior individual contributors; Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential education and experience:

• 6+ years of professional systems engineering, software development, and/or quality assurance experience
• Experience building software and tools facilitating effective research & development - a passion for writing clean code, scalable architectures, test-driven development, and robust logging
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Lots of initiative, inquisitiveness, persistence and the ability to learn quickly and seek help when needed
• Fluent in python and related libraries (e.g. NumPy, pandas, geopandas)
• Understanding of DevOps/DataOps and CI/CD toolset such as git, GitLab CI

Desirable:

• Experience administrating modern cloud applications and infrastructure running in Kubernetes on AWS or other cloud provider
• Hands-on experience with navigating and querying PostgresSQL or similar databases
• Understanding of BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, Grafana for data visualization and reporting.
• Experience with monitoring and logging solutions, particularly the ELK stack, is highly desirable.

Base Salary Range: $125,000 - $160,000 annually

HawkEye 360 offers a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate's work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations. We are also open to considering candidates with experience and qualifications at a different level than required in a job posting, which may affect the compensation package offered.
