Senior Benefits Consultant- Retirement Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing retirement programs to ensure Inova's benefits are market competitive and aligned to our talent strategy and team member experience.
- Manages qualified and non-qualified retirement plans (401(k), 403(b), 457(b), 457(f)) and oversees program financials, compliance, and vendor assessments.
- Collaborates with HR, Finance, and Payroll teams, as well as external vendors, to ensure seamless retirement program operations.
- Conducts audits, reconciles plan funding, authorizes payments, and resolves discrepancies in program data (e.g., contributions, vesting, eligibility).
- Develops and executes communication strategies to promote retirement plan education and participation among team members.
- Leads annual compliance initiatives, including ERISA audits, Form 5500 filings, non-discrimination testing, and policy updates in collaboration with ERISA counsel.
- Working knowledge and understanding of retirement plan administration and associated regulations and IRS tax rules.
- Builds and maintains strong vendor relationships to optimize employee experience and ensure cost-effective program management.
- Monitors retirement trends and legislation, assess impacts on existing plans, and recommends strategic changes.
- Prepares and presents metrics, reports, and analyses to senior leadership to guide decision-making.
Senior Benefits Consultant- Retirement Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of benefits related experience
Senior Benefits Consultant- Retirement Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Fidelity PSW and/or Oracle
- Experience in retirement program administration, including experience with retirement program compliance, vendor management, and employee communication.
- Experience in project management, including leading cross-functional teams and managing retirement program initiatives from conception to implementation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex retirement program concepts to employees at all levels.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC), or similar credentials
