About the Position

Structural Technologies' Engineering Program (STEP) is a cornerstone for your growth from an EIT to a Professional Engineer. Beginning with in-the-field learning and development, our EITs gain real-world investigation and construction experience that will provide a firm foundation for their development in design and analysis. The goal of our STEP program is to develop our people into company leaders. To accomplish that, the program has been structured with a competency-based approach along with an emphasis on individual mentorship. Our EITs will typically spend four years in the program as they develop key skills before progressing as a licensed Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer.

As an EIT you can expect to master critical skills in various areas of civil and structural engineering. While an EIT you can expect to develop a firm foundation in design and analysis. Some areas you can expect to master critical skills include:



  • Understand behavior of existing structures
  • Diagnose deterioration mechanisms of concrete and steel
  • Use non-destructive testing techniques
  • Plan project investigations
  • Understand the engineer's role for construction oversight
  • Apply engineering principles for structural design
  • Develop drawings to communicate design intent
  • Analyze structures

This position will sit with our STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES Baton Rouge team located in Geismar, LA. In this role, you can expect to travel across the Greater Gulf Area 50% of the time with opportunities for international travel.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering - preference Structural or Materials emphasis
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher.
  • A minimum of one relevant internship experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional documentation and organizational skills.
  • Aptitude for solving problems.
  • Reliable transportation from the office to job sites.
