Overview

  • Full-time / 1.0 FTE . 80 hours biweekly
  • 2nd shift with great shift differential pay
  • No weekend rotation
  • Holiday and call rotation required
  • Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center
  • Located in Janesville, WI

Performs computed tomography procedures and related techniques. Administers x-radiation to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. May be required to alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, and take call. May be asked to flex hours and overtime as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned sites(s). Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested. Depending on site assigned, may also be required to perform radiographer job duties.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic CT procedures.
  • If assigned radiographer job duties, also performs radiographic, fluoroscopic, surgical and portable radiographic exams.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.
  • Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.
  • Practices aseptic technique as necessary,
  • Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.
  • Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.
  • Provides practical instruction for students and partners.
  • Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited radiography program
Radiographer experience preferred
CT experience preferred

Certification and Licensure

ARRT Radiography registration required
ARRT Computed Tomography registration required (or must be obtained within two years of hire)
IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois
WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.

Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

Skills and Abilities
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software and Order processing systems.

Other Qualifications
Must be able to take call as needed.
