This opportunity is in the Accounting & Finance Department.

Role Description:

In the role of Senior Financial Reporting Accountant, you will be a part of a dynamic team that lives by Safety National's Core Values of Relationships, Integrity, Teamwork, Balane, and Stability. You will work closely with the entire Accounting and Finance department along with several other departments across Safety National. Your contributions of ensuring accuracy of STAT and GAAP accounting and reporting will be felt throughout Safety National.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will include ensuring accuracy of STAT and GAAP accounting and reporting. Preparing analyses during the month end close process, complete tasks associated with the company's quarterly and annual statutory and GAAP reporting requirements. Assist with preparation of Capital Models. While also ensuring the accuracy of information reported to rating agencies. You may also be assigned various projects like, assisting in coordinating statutory financial examinations, assisting with completion of finance and accounting portion of control self-assessment on an annual basis and assisting with company meeting presentation materials.

Additionally, you will prepare assigned schedules required for the annual statutory filing and audited financial statements, and prepare other information or schedules required for internal and external annual reporting. Assisting with surveys and other reports required by rating agencies and reviewing resulting reports issued by rating agencies for accuracy may be required as well.

The ideal candidate is someone who has a minimum of two years of experience in insurance industry or pertinent accounting experience. Some of the essential skills required of you in this role are, staying organized and having the professional communication skills to communicate with external and internal stakeholders. Prior experience with Microsoft Excel is required.

Education:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar degree is required


Required Qualifications:



  • Minimum two years' experience in insurance industry or pertinent accounting experience
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft suite software
  • Strong professional communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Big Four Public Accounting experience
  • People Soft software experience

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
