Southwest Medical Associates (SMA) is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants consisting of over 300 providers, 21 medical health centers including six urgent care clinics, four convenient care centers, two lifestyle centers catering to older adults, an outpatient surgery center, plus E-visits and online options via Now Clinic telemedicine technology. SMA offers patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout southern Nevada. SMA is headquartered in the greater Las Vegas, NV area.

The Manager of Clinic Operations position has management accountability for a specific care site in collaboration with the accountable physician leaders to ensure a quality patient experience through fostering a caring culture that demonstrates excellent customer service while achieving SMA strategic financial goals. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, this position is responsible for leading operations support for overall business and clinical functions delivered at a specific site. This position oversees all aspects of site operations on a day-to-day basis. Primary responsibilities include: provision of technical support for the nursing and front office teams, oversight of business and clinical compliance, ensure cost effective practices, monitor business outcomes and financial business analysis. This position works closely with the providers and site RN leadership to optimize patient flow, develop and maintain quality improvement strategies as they relate to customer service and best medical practices. Accountable to meet the operation needs of the entire facility. Recruits and retains outstanding staff. Ensures the overall competency of staff and maintains facility compliance with federal and state regulations and SMA policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provide supervision to department staff, works independently and collaborate with Physician and RN leadership on relevant clinical issues
  • Recruit and retain talented staff and ensure proper training, resource allocation and develop standards to monitor and evaluate staff performance
  • Implement and maintain clinical and business policies and procedures
  • Ensures customer satisfaction within the clinic sites and resolves patient issues
  • Ensure strict adherence to policies/procedures related to financial integrity of co-pays, charge entry, Standard Work development and maintenance, etc.
  • Facility planning and overall facility maintenance
  • Analyze monthly metrics relating to customer services, access and achievement of financial goals and objectives; develop and implement operational changes based on metrics
  • Monitor, manage and ensure that provider and clinic empanelment is accurate
  • Educate staff and providers on monthly metrics, glide paths, goals and areas for improvements
  • Contribute to the development of short and long-term business planning, then ensure plans are executed
  • Achievement of clinical and business compliance and licensures for labs, staff and requirements for regulatory compliance
  • All safety functions in clinics and ensures completion of safety training and proper orientation for new employees

Required Qualifications:



  • High School diploma and/or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in a manager/supervisory role
  • 3+ years of experience in a business or customer service setting
  • Proven knowledge of financial cost analysis relating to personnel, inventory, production and profitability
  • Proven understanding of process flows regarding service levels, cash handling and collections
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications such as MS Office Suite and Excel



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of healthcare experience in a clinic setting
  • Electronic medical records experience
  • Medical insurance knowledge to include ICD-9/10 and CPT-9 coding



Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $58,300 to $114,300 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
