Murrieta Hospital: Staff Development (Full-Time, Day Shift) - Job Summary: The Educator-Staff Development utilizes independent judgment and critical thinking skills to provide education programs for Loma Linda University*Medical Center-Murrieta*(LLUMC-Murrieta) and the healthcare community. Plans and develops curricula in accordance with needs assessments. Analyzes data from participant evaluations and feedback for quality improvement monitoring and reporting. Pursues new developments in education and training methodologies and implements as deemed appropriate. Develops a comprehensive educational programs and trainings that maintains a motivated and skilled workforce and fulfills the needs of the organization and designated schools within the University. Promotes a climate for the participant that encourages learning and self-motivation through the application of principles of adult learning. Markets programs to internal and external customer base. Collaborates with Clinical Educators, infrastructure departments, Patient Safety and Reliability, and Risk Management to ensure education topics meet end user needs and organizational initiatives. Assists with establishing and maintaining budgets and administers and monitors program expenditures. Coordinates LLUMC-Murrieta-wide staff development efforts to ensure compliance with training requirements throughout the organization. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Nursing, Social Work, Administration, Education or related health field required (Degree in progress acceptable with quarterly reports). Minimum of three years of patient care experience in a healthcare-related field required. Minimum of two years experience in education or staff development preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Substantial knowledge of clinical practice specialty, nursing scope of practice, adult learning principles, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care and evidenced-based clinical practice standards required. Understands state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, quality, patient safety, performance improvement methodologies, data management and statistical analysis required. Demonstrates professional competency and ability to develop and champion clinical outcome improvements in a multi-initiative organization with competing priorities. Must be able to work effectively with physician, nursing, administrative and ancillary staff. Obtains cooperation and support from a broad range of licensed and unlicensed staff. Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English (and Spanish preferred) in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
